MapRoulette is a micro-task platform for OpenStreetMap. Thousands of mappers use MapRoulette every month to find small but meaningful fixes to the map: a building that crosses a road, a business with an invalid phone number, a river that flows the wrong way. Each task is designed to be quick to fix and easy to understand. There are tasks for all mapper experience levels and for almost every country in the world. MapRoulette is a community-driven platform: anyone can create tasks using an easy-to-use interface. In 2025 alone, mappers made around 700’000 map improvements using MapRoulette!
Behind the scenes, we have been working on a completely new version of the MapRoulette website and the API. The new website is easier to navigate, has a modern design, and a much improved search function. The map views have been overhauled to show a lot more relevant information. After a period of community feedback, we released MapRoulette v4 earlier this year. In this presentation, MapRoulette creator Martijn van Exel will show you around the new version, talk about plans for the future, and explain how to integrate your application with the MapRoulette API.
