As main developer of MapComplete, I do think a lot about how people edit OpenStreetMap and how those edits relate to the rest of the data and the rest of the ecosystem. At the same time, there are many OSM-editors out there. While this choice might be a bit confusing for new contributors, the OSM ecosystem thrives by having multiple editors.

In this talk, I would like to zoom out and give different frameworks and perspectives on how to think about editing software; and how editors relate to each other - they often complement each other.

Some questions I’ll answer are:

• how can we compare editors?
• What makes an editor a good editor? What makes it a powerful editor?
• How do editors relate to the data they edit?
• What will the future bring?
