  • Maggie Cawley
  • Alyssa Castronuovo

As the Executive Director and Program Coordinator at OpenStreetMap US, Maggie and Alyssa are lucky to say OpenStreetMap is their full-time job. OpenStreetMap US is both a local chapter of the OpenStreetMap Foundation, and an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States. This presentation will explore how OpenStreetMap US has evolved the organization’s approach to community building, as communities of mappers emerge and dissolve across the United States.

A few topics that will be covered in this talk include:

  • OSM US membership structure
  • Evolution of the Board of Directors
  • Hiring paid staff
  • Community engagement initiatives (surveys, blog posts, etc)

Whether you are a leader of another OSMF Local Chapter or the only mapper in a 100 mile (sorry - kilometer) radius, you’re invited to explore what it means to build a mapping community with us.
